About Us

The Barley Mow is an independently run, country village pub. We serve seasonal, fresh, simple food and the pub provides a welcoming space to indulge, to meet and to relax.

We like to think of Paulerspury as a hidden gem. Tucked away from the main roads our village is dotted with thatched cottages, beautiful gardens and the surrounding footpaths offer idyllic views of the peaceful countryside. Why not leave the car in our large car park and head off for a ramble before enjoying a well deserved lunch in the garden. Nearby Spinall’s Playing Field connects directly to our beer garden. Children can play on the zip line whilst parents enjoy watching with a well earned drink. In the winter months we have a cosy log burning stove and traditional Northamptonshire skittles to keep you entertained.

Food and Drink

Our menu is based on British pub classics, made special by the time spent perfecting them. We can proudly say that all our meals are made from scratch in our kitchen and recipes are tailored to suit the seasons and the availability of local produce.

Our fresh seasonal vegetables are delivered weekly from Moorgate Farm, Potterspury. If they don’t grow them in their own poly tunnel then they are sourced from local farms within a 20 mile radius. Recently we have had Swiss chard, purple sprouting broccoli, asparagus, rhubarb, new season carrots, spinach, leeks and baby beets all with zero air miles!

We work alongside our butcher to consistently serve quality meat. It is delivered fresh daily and is always British. Our fish comes from a specialist supplier, M+J seafood, who are committed to quality and sustainability.

A beautiful brood of hens are also at home here. They supply the kitchen with lovely fresh eggs and are the secret behind our famous Scotch egg!

Beer and Cider Festival 2018
Saturday 28th July
From 2.00 pm

A celebration of beer, food and the Great British Summertime

Join us for some great food, drink and entertainment – including a hog roast, homemade ice creams, live music in the evening and a bouncy castle for children.

Beers will be sourced from some great local breweries, including Towcester Mill, Gun Dog Ales in Woodford Halse and Merrimen Brewery in Litchborough. Alongside this we will be featuring some great ciders and if we get the sunshine then we will be getting the Pimm’s jugs out!

Perfect for Celebrations

Our team are experienced in creating bespoke events that are enjoyable and memorable for you and your guests.

Our beautiful barn restaurant and function room is perfect for all kinds of events. Whether it’s small, cosy gatherings or full blown parties, we love all kinds of celebration at The Barley Mow. For big events, the large function room can hold up to 150 people and it also has its own private bar. We can also transform the function room into a beautiful dining space, this looks stunning as a banquet hall with one long, central table. Smaller groups can make use of our lovely Garden Room Restaurant, this seats up to 20 people and can provide a lovely, private room for enjoying a meal.

We have experience hosting all kinds of events including weddings, christenings, wakes, anniversaries and birthdays. Our catering options are varied and we will work with you to select a menu to suit the style of the occasion, be it luxury sandwiches and homemade quiches or a three course meal. There are multiple options for entertainment and we are more than happy to work with you to organise this. In the past we have had events with traditional juke boxes, a live country band, singers, discos and quizzes and don’t forget there is always the option for a tournament with our Northamptonshire skittles table!

Interested? Please get in touch, we would love to hear from you and discuss your event.
